DESIRE, ENGINEERED - Behind the Scenes

Desire, Engineered: Uncoded Bodies Beyond the Age of Machines is a project by Teodora Serbanescu (she/they), a London-based Film Producer, Movement Director and Writer. It's her most ambitious short film to date — a choreographic cinematic work exploring coexistence with techno-spirituality at the edge of posthuman thought. Through a non-linear structure, the film follows a female body pushed to its limits, navigating the glitches between nature and machine. Movement becomes a language for negotiating memory, intrusion, and the shifting line between presence and perception — technology acting as both interruption and mirror. Teodora externalizes internal states through movement-based cinematic language, building new visual vocabularies at the intersection of philosophy, performance, and technology. The result is an unresolved, porous body — shaped by the tension between surveillance and agency, memory and becoming — expressed through an interconnected mosaic of image, sound, and technological form. I shot the behind-the-scenes coverage for this project, aiming to capture the intricate, layered process behind bringing this work to life.
