Absent-Present Bodies

Absent-Present Bodies is a collaborative fashion shoot with the designer Mirey Demici, which explores the space between bodily presence and absence—a realm where form, spirit, and sensation intersect. Theatrical stage settings are constructed to hold a mystical, almost otherworldly energy, acting as mirrors that reflect layered realities in which the visible and the intangible coexist. The body, often unseen, is suggested through garments, masks, gestures, and spatial compositions that evoke a lingering, felt presence. These elements do not serve as props to be worn but exist as autonomous forms shaped around the body, charged with emotional, spiritual, and symbolic resonance. Each stage is composed as a frozen moment within an invisible narrative—a distilled scene where tension resides between what is present and what is absent. Spatial arrangements, textures, and forms invite a sensory experience of the body through implication rather than depiction. The atmosphere within these spaces is dense with potential: a suggestion of movement, transformation, or ritual about to unfold. Garments and masks serve as vessels for embodied energy, holding traces of memory, care, and ancestral connection. The body becomes relational—never fixed, but shifting—expressed through postures, absences, and the resonance of materials.
